This inspection tour not only reflects the high importance placed by Canadian enterprises on Sichuan and the Chinese market but also signals new development opportunities in Canada-China economic cooperation.

1 Sichuan Provincial Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Meeting: Deepening Canada-China Economic and Trade Cooperation

On the morning of December 3rd, a meeting was held between the Xinflix Entrepreneurs Chamber of Commerce and the Sichuan Provincial Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) under the coordination of Xu Qiang, the Chief Representative of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) in Canada.

The meeting was attended by Huang Li, President of Sichuan CCPIT, Fan Jun, Vice President, Li Yunbo, Minister of the International Liaison Department, Zhao Xiaoyang, Minister of the Trade and Investment Promotion Department, Chen Junren, Executive Deputy Secretary-General of the Sichuan International Chamber of Commerce, and Li Yulan, a member of the International Liaison Department, among other key leaders.

The session focused on strengthening bilateral economic and trade relations, with an emphasis on opportunities for cooperation between Sichuan and Canadian enterprises. It highlighted areas where collaboration could be particularly fruitful, laying a foundation for the development of long-term business and investment partnerships between both regions.

At the meeting, President Huang Li first extended a warm welcome to the delegation and expressed gratitude for their participation in the China (Sichuan-Chongqing) Hotpot Industry International Promotion Event, which was part of the previously held Chain Expo. The meeting served as a significant step in fostering mutual understanding and strengthening the collaboration between Sichuan and the Canadian business community, particularly in sectors related to food industry promotion and international market expansion.

She pointed out that Sichuan has a population of 91 million, covering a market area with a population of 500 million in Western China, which provides a vast market space. The economic scale of Sichuan has surpassed 6 trillion RMB, with the total number of business entities exceeding 9 million, and the scale of cross-border e-commerce import and export transactions has exceeded 100 billion RMB. As one of the most vibrant investment hotspots in Western China, Sichuan's cooperation with Canada in sectors like science, education, culture, and tourism continues to deepen.

President Huang Li also stated that the Sichuan Provincial Council for the Promotion of International Trade (Sichuan Provincial CCPIT) is an important bridge for the province's business community to carry out foreign trade and economic exchanges. The Council assists enterprises in expanding abroad and plays a crucial role in the development of an open economy. She expressed her hopes for in-depth exchanges with the Xinflix Entrepreneurs Chamber of Commerce to facilitate information sharing, group visits, and more effective communication. This collaboration aims to jointly promote the deeper development of Sino-Canadian economic and trade relations.

At the meeting, James Wang, the founder of the Xinflix Entrepreneurs Chamber of Commerce, highly praised the development of Sichuan Province. He expressed his intention to broaden the chamber’s horizons and leverage the overseas advantages of Xinflix, as well as the media platform of Xinflix Media Group and the business-government relationships accumulated over the years. By relying on the bridge-building role of the Sichuan Provincial Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Wang emphasized that they would provide more support and assistance for Sichuan enterprises seeking to expand abroad.

At the meeting, Xu Qiang, the General Representative of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) in Canada, also expressed gratitude to the Sichuan Provincial Council for the Promotion of International Trade and congratulated them on the success of the China (Chengdu-Chongqing) Hotpot Industry International Promotion Event at the Chain Expo. He highlighted the enormous potential of Canada's economy and emphasized that with the active role of the CCPIT, there is significant opportunity for the development of Canada-China economic and trade relations.

2 Shu Yi Shu Er Enterprise Salon: Promoting Cross-Border E-commerce Cooperation

After the meeting, both parties held the “Shu Yi Shu Er” Enterprise Salon, which was hosted by the full-time deputy secretary-general of the International Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Chen Junren. During the event, companies interested in exporting introduced themselves and explored the potential for cross-border e-commerce cooperation. The goal was to establish stronger connections and assist businesses in expanding into Canada.

Additionally, both parties engaged in an in-depth discussion about common issues in imports and exports, such as trade barriers and logistical challenges. They brainstormed solutions to help local businesses penetrate the North American market. With the support of the Trade Promotion Council, both sides agreed to identify reliable North American partners for precise matchmaking, aiming to meet the service trade demands and effectively manage overseas resources.

This initiative plays an essential role in connecting enterprises in Sichuan with the global market and provides support for their internationalization efforts, especially in the cross-border e-commerce sector.

At noon, the Sichuan Provincial Council for the Promotion of International Trade hosted the delegation and arranged a local specialty luncheon for the group. During the lunch, they were also presented with unique gifts featuring the Sichuan mascot, the giant panda. These gifts served as a token of appreciation, highlighting the province’s iconic and culturally significant symbols. The gesture further strengthened the bond between the visiting delegation and the host, making the experience more memorable and culturally enriching.

3 Sichuan Yunshang International Supply Chain Co., Ltd. Seminar

In the afternoon, under the facilitation of the Sichuan Provincial Chamber of Commerce, the delegation was guided by Mr. Chen Junren, the full-time deputy secretary-general of the International Chamber of Commerce, to meet with Lu Haiyun Port Sichuan Yunshang International Supply Chain Co., Ltd. This meeting likely involved discussions on supply chain operations, international trade, and logistics, as well as potential cooperation opportunities between the Canadian entrepreneurs and the Sichuan-based company.

The focus of such meetings is generally to build strategic partnerships, expand logistics networks, and optimize cross-border e-commerce operations, with both parties potentially exploring ways to facilitate smoother international trade from Canada to China, especially focusing on the North American market.

During the meeting, Mr. Wu Lei, the General Manager of Lu Haiyun Port Sichuan Yunshang International Supply Chain Co., Ltd., provided an introduction to the company's development and emphasized the importance of collaborative growth in port trade. He also noted that ports must be proactive in expanding their reach beyond domestic borders.

The two sides discussed a variety of key areas, including the import and export of agricultural products, trade, the "big health" industry, and cross-border logistics. These discussions laid the groundwork for potential future collaboration.

Mr. Chen Junren, the Deputy Secretary-General of the International Chamber of Commerce, pointed out that while imports currently represent only 38.6% of the total trade volume, there is significant room for growth in importing high-quality products and stimulating consumption. Given the strength of the Sichuan consumer market, the potential for introducing imported goods and investments is considerable. This suggests a promising opportunity for cross-border cooperation between Canadian enterprises and their Chinese counterparts.

These dialogues are pivotal in creating pathways for more efficient trade flows, not only in terms of goods but also in strengthening the economic ties between both regions.

In the evening, the delegation concluded their visit to Chengdu with a memorable experience at Shunxing Old Teahouse, where they were immersed in authentic Chengdu culture. The event featured a delightful combination of Sichuan opera, face-changing performances, and tea ceremonies, providing a rich cultural experience and marking the perfect end to their visit in Chengdu.

Following this, the delegation will continue their journey in Shanghai, where they will proceed with local regional inspections and collaborations, further advancing the development of economic and trade relations between Canada and China.
